The album's title refers to a medical condition also known as "broken heart syndrome," which occurs when the heart's main pumping chamber weakens due to intense emotional distress. Released on March 26, 2021, "Tako Tsubo" features a departure from the French chanson style that characterized the band's first album, "Matahari." Instead, the album showcases a diverse range of musical styles, including disco, funk, and synthpop. The album was produced by Renaud Letang (known for his work with artists such as Feist and Jarvis Cocker) and mixed by Neal .
